119 Brunei companies will be taking part in the upcoming 14th China-ASEAN Expo at the Nanning International Conference and Exhibition Centre, China from the 12th to 15th of this month. They will be setting up booths in preparation for the launch of the commodity pavilion this Tuesday. Among the objectives of CAEXPO is to allow Brunei's local businesses to benchmark their products and services.
According to some local Brunei companies, the expo is an opportunity for them to gain feedback from China and ASEAN audience, as well as to garner interest for business supply or expansion. Aside from offering opportunity to showcase Brunei as a tourist destination as well its products and services, CAEXPO also provides a platform for large-scale foreign investments between Brunei and China.
This includes the establishment of the Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor (BGEC) - an agreement signed in 2014 that establishes a strategic supply chain link between Brunei and Guangxi, that covers investments in manufacturing and export from both countries, especially those focusing on the halal market, as well as upgrading logistics.
