TENOM

Tenom Umno Wanita Movement reiterated its call to retain incumbent Kemabong assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang and Tenom Member of Parliament Datuk Raimie Unggi as candidates in the 14th General Elections.

Its Wanita chief, Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan, said she had personally expressed her support to Rubin and Raimi.

“As I said earlier, Kemabong assemblyman Datuk Rubin Balang and Tenom MP Datuk Raimie Unggi need and should be retained as candidates in GE14,” she said at the Tenom Division Umno Wanita Movement’s “the people in my heart program” held at Mansasoh District Polling Centre in Kemabong  here on Friday.

Rahmahjan said both leaders had fantastically executed their responsibilities, worked together to defend the fate of the people, to get funds and development allocations for the Tenom people they represented.

Also present at the event were Rubin, who is Tenom Umno Division Chief and his deputy Raimie as well as other Tenom Umno leaders.

Rahmahjan said Rubin is chairman of the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (SRIB) and Fama Board Member, while Raime is chairman of the Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB)., and added that both had performed their duties well.

“A lot of progress and development have been brought about by both leaders in Tenom. The people can vouch for this,” she added.

“We need to look at things (their struggles) in a broader, comprehensive perspective. Maybe what they have done may not be perfect, but we could not deny their big contributions to the people of Tenom.

“What is important is that they are doing what they can, so the people need to be patient with what they have not done,” she said and hoped that none of the Umno members would be trapped by the opposition’s baqseless propaganda.

On the other hand, Rahmahjan called on Umno members to stand united and strengthen their defence against their political enemies.

On the program she said it was among the approaches of Umno women to dive into the heartbeat of the people at the grassroots level.

“I am doing all this to carry out the trust given upon me by the party President and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, to go down to the ground to meet up with grassroots at all the times and it is not seasonal as the opposition are doing when the election just around the corner,” Rahmahjan said.
