Arena Performance and Static Display

 September 18th, 2017  |  08:31 AM  |   1328 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

From the Royal Brunei Navy parade grounds, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince also watched the Maritime arena performance and static exhibitions presented by the RBAF units and Ministry of Defence.  Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.  The performance and exhibition depict the commitment of all RBAF personnel to always uphold the trust of defending the country's sovereignty and enhancing their preparedness and capability as the vanguard of national defence.

On the Kapal KDB Darutaqwa at the Bravo Jetty area, His Majesty witnessed a Martime Arena Performance. His Majesty was welcomed by Captain Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, the Commandant of the Royal Brunei Navy Training Centre.

The performance showcased a fusion of RBAF skills in a maritime operation to defend the security and sovereignty of Brunei Darussalam waters.   The professionalism of the navy personnel is always top priority. The Royal Brunei Navy has undergone significant changes and developments since its establishment on 14 June 1965.   As its contribution to military cooperation and regional stability, the Royal Brunei Navy has participated in various exercises at the regional level, especially the ones organised by Brunei Darussalam.

To improve the professionalism of its members, the Royal Brunei Navy Training Centre's infrastructure was launched early this year.  One of its biggest achievements was participating in one of the world's biggest navy exercise, the biennial Pacific Rim Exercise or RIMPAC, led by the United States Navy in Honolulu, Hawaii.   It was also a very significant moment in the Royal Brunei Navy's history when two of its patrol boats participated and were tested in a big maritime combat simulation.

Meanwhile, the annual exhibition has attracted the public, giving them the opportunity to have a closer look at RBAF assets and to learn the importance and roles of each RBAF unit.   In 55 years, the Royal Brunei Land Force has become a modern organisation through the establishment of E Company.   The 1st Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Force at Bangar Camp was the continuation of duty in Temburong District and guarding of Pulau Baru-Baru after the company took over full protection in April 2015.

In January 2015, the Land Operation Centre was established to ensure the implementation of operations at the tactical level with functions in receiving and conveying orders and instructions as well as channeling information to all navy units apart from being the main link to Joint Command Headquarters, especially in operational matters.  In the welfare aspect, the Royal Brunei Land Force began the Mandatory Active Duty System or STAM since June 2016.   It is a policy that assists in boosting the morale of infantry personnel with more detailed and systematic career planning to ensure an orderly career journey for each personnel.

His Majesty then toured the Royal Brunei Air Force Exhibition tent.  Formed in 1965, the Royal Air Force has shown significant development in its assets and personnel.  The Royal Brunei Air Force is also equipped with the new Blackhawk S70i helicopters.   The increasing number of pilots and technicians also provide a positive effect in fulfilling the country's needs.  Besides that the Royal Brunei Air Force has also amended the structure of its organisation.

The RBAF Training Institute with its vision of, "quality Training towards an Effective and Capable Royal Brunei Armed Forces' continues to be active in its mission to produce professional members to fulfil operational needs.  The Training Institute has undergone several evolutions in implementing and organising trainings, administrative system or infrastructure in-line with the changing times and the aspiration, vision and mission of the RBAF.   As the prime mover mechanism towards realising the direction and aspiration of the RBAF, the RBAF Training Institute is committed in teaching and producing professional soldiers.

Last year the institute achieved another success when it gained recognition from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE in the 'NTEC in Armament Instrument Maintenance' programme for Technical Armament Technicians of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.  The programme was a collaboration between the IBTE and RBAF Training Institute that ran for two years at IBTE Seria and Penanjong Garrison.  The programme enables the 'Armament' Technicians to gain RBAF and public institute's recognised qualifications that allow them to continue studies at a higher level of National Qualifications.

His Majesty was then invited to the Warrant Officers Mess for the Junjung Ziarah with Senior and Junior Non-commissioned Officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.   The RBAF will continue to progress and be committed in implementing defence policies, improving defence capabilities and diplomacy and contributing to national development.   The RBAF also places emphasis on maintaining the standard of discipline and core values such as piety, loyalty, courage and professionalism among its personnel.

His Majesty later proceeded to the Royal Brunei Navy Officers Mess for the get together with RBAF officers, former officers and personnel as well as Penghulu and Ketua Kampung. His Majesty then cut the RBAF 56th Anniversary Cake.  Over the years, the RBAF continues to implement initiatives to improve recruitment and increase the number of serving officers in the RBAF as part of its overall development plan and human resource management.

Doa Selamat was read by Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, the Head of the RBAF Religious Department. The RBAF will continue the strong and patriotic spirit to create and build an effective operational capacity in upholding the aspiration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to build a strong and outstanding armed forces.
