‘Drunk driver took stolen golf buggy’ for a spin to McDonald’s

This early morning adventure to McDonald’s was never going to end well.

And it was largely down this driver’s mode of transport – riding a suspected stolen golf buggy with a bunch of silver balloons attached to the back was always going to raise alarm bells.

It wasn’t long before Northamptonshire Police caught up with the driver on the A45 near Daventry at around 4am yesterday.

Special Inspector Rawson told Metro.co.uk how the man stopped at the McDonald’s in Towcester before driving around 15 miles to Daventry.

SI Rawson said the officers on duty arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving and stealing the vehicle.

A golf course in south Northamptonshire has since reported a missing cart to police.

SI Rawson added: ‘Things like this seem to rarely happen, in my 13 years this is a first that I have heard of.

‘My colleague who was on shift and dealt with this said if he hadn’t been there he probably wouldn’t have believed it had occurred.’
