Collaborative partnerships can become an effective means to bridge the gap between higher education and the public and private sectors, which would allow more committed involvement and effective coordination. This collaboration is also an important tool in making higher education more relevant for employment and to ease entry into the labour market.
However, according to the Minister of Education, such a collaboration cannot be developed if everyone remains in their compartmentalised silos, refusing to take part in and contribute to significant conversations that build a shared framework. This was explained by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman at the opening of the Future Forum this morning.
The two day Forum enables participants to exchange knowledge on various important topics such as the main role of innovation in shaping the future of higher education, tri-lateral collaboration, private and government partnerships as well as the involvement of stakeholders and higher education. The Future Forum is organised in conjunction with the 29th University Brunei Darussalam Convocation. Also present was Datin Doctor Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz, Vice Chancellor of UBD.
