​The fire that gutted two houses in Kampung Sumbiling Lama, Jalan Istana Darussalam in the capital has resulted in a loss of some 75 thousand dollars. The fire that broke out yesterday afternoon however, did not involve any fatalities.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 4.54 in the afternoon. 3 fire engines from the Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station and one engine from the Berakas Fire Station rushed to the location and the fire was able to contain within 30 minutes. The fire was reported to have been caused by unsupervised cooking. In this regard, the public is reminded to ensure the cleanliness of the cooking area and not to leave any cooking unsupervised.
