Atong Xaytua Named Mathematics Wizard

VIENTIANE, LAOS

 

Mr Atong Xaytua, a student of Santiphab Secondary School in Luang Prabang Province has been announced the winner of the National Best Student Competition 2016 for Matthayom 7 (grade 12) in the category of mathematics.

 

Miss Phoutthida Souk-aloun was announced as the winner in the Lao Language-literature category and Mr Maokong Taoxaily took first place for physics.  The two students are from Vientiane School for Gifted and Ethnic Students.

 

Twenty-two students won scores greater than 7 (out of ten). More than half of them (13) are Mattayom 7 students.

 

A ceremony for the announcement of the winners of the National Best Student Competition 2016 was held on Thursday in the presence of Minister of Education and Sports Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun, teachers, representatives of sponsors, students and parents.

 

The National Best Student Competition 2016 was held at the National University of Laos on April 25.

 

The following are the winners of the Matthayom 4 categories:

- Mathematics: Mr Teng Hangsong from Namthuam Lower Secondary School, Luang Prabang Province

- Lao Language-literature: Mr Lattanasin Singthavong from Ethnic Lower Secondary School, Huaphan Province

- Physics: Miss Vongdala Vongdakhon from Vientiane Lower Secondary School, Vientiane Capital

- Chemistry: Miss Chinda Thavivanh from Patthana Lower Secondary School, Vientiane Capital
