LABUAN, SABAH
Persatuan Melayu Kedayan Brunei Darussalam (PEMEDAYAN) recently made a three-day visit to Labuan.
Led by its president Awang Haji Matusin bin Orang Kaya Sura Haji Tuba, the 21-member delegation was hosted by the newly established Labuan Kedayan Association.
Their itinerary included a visit to the island's Judiciary Department. They were also entertained to a dinner by Senator Datuk Yunus bin Kurus, a member of the Malaysian Senate, and Datuk Rozman bin Datuk Haji Isli, Labuan's Member of Parliament.
The group also handed over a donation to Uwais Al-Qarani Mosque at Kampong Pantai.
Another highlight was a visit to the Kg Rancha-Rancha Muslim Cemetery to pay homage to a well-known ulama, Tuanku Syarif Kedah.
The Bruneian visitors had an opportunity to meet with a descendant of the ulama in Kampong Lubok Temiang.
A PEMEDAYAN spokesperson said the visit was part of the association's annual activities that was aimed at enhancing relationships with Kedayans in Brunei Darussalam and also areas in neighbouring Malaysian such as Limbang and Sipitang.
