TEMBURONG

Muslim convert Dayang Nur Haziah binti Abdul Rahman, who received Zakat assistance from 2009 to 2014, is now able to support her family without additional financial assistance from the Zakat Contribution Recipient Group after successfully generating a source of income from active engagements in her handicraft and salted egg businesses.

Nur Haziah in an interview said that she is grateful they were able to use the Zakat contribution aid to good use and also for the fact that they no longer need to be a part of the recipient group.

She and her family moved in to live with her father when he was sick and she used her money from the Zakat contribution to renovate her home the rented it out to the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MU IB).

At the same time, with the plot of land owned by her father, she and her husband began breeding ducks and started selling preserved salted eggs, which turned out to be a success.

While caring for her father who is currently on medical treatment, Nur Haziah and her husband plan to expand their business in the future once they can raise the sufficient amount of funds.

Being a former Zakat recipient who has successfully put her share to good use, she also called on others to do the same.
