After fleeing to the United States, a member of the Aegis Juris fraternity who is believed to be involved in the death of hazing victim Horacio Tomas “Atio” Castillo III has decided to return to the Philippines.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said that Ralph Trangia is expected to be return to the Philippines anytime.
“We were informed that the US authorities are preparing to deport him,” Aguirre said.
“So, I believe that he opted to return voluntarily rather than be deported,” he pointed out.
Trangia will be facing criminal complaints which have been lodged against him and his parents before the Department of Justice (DOJ) over the death of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) law student.
His parents, Antonio and Rosemarie, have also been included in the complaints for their participation in helping their son flee.
Police investigators said Castillo was brought on the morning of September 17 to the Chinese General Hospital by John Paul Solano, a member of the fraternity, using a red Mitsubishi Strada with plate number ZTV-539. The vehicle was traced to Trangia’s father.
Trangia slipped out of the country with his mother two days before the DOJ placed him and other suspects in the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) which was issued on September 20.
