Cyber Crime Legal Issue Forum

 October 11th, 2017  |  08:45 AM  |   2639 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Cases of cyber-crimes have resulted in huge losses. Among the types of cyber-crimes that are becoming more widespread are data intrusion and slander, which could affect political and social stability as well as the nation's sovereignty. Cyber-crimes can also indirectly cause the country to incur losses in intellectual property, as a result of negligence in handling financial assets and business affairs which may be hacked by irresponsible parties. The matter was shared during the Cyber Crime Legal Issue Forum at the International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday morning.

The forum titled 'Antara Hudud dan Ta'zir', was discussed by 3 panellists comprising Professor Doctor Nehaluddin Ahmad and Doctor Abd Rahman Haqqi lecturers from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, UNISSA, as well as Haji Mohamad Rozaiman Dato Seri Laila Jasa Abdul Rahman, President of the Law Society. It also touched on the difficulty to overcome cyber-crime due to lack of experts in computer forensic. The forum among others aimed to raise public awareness on cyber-crime, as well as provide information related to legal issues. The forum was one of the activities organised by UNISSA in conjunction with its 7th Mahrajan Haflut Takhar-Ruj or Convocation Festival.
