​Inap desa or homestay is a tourism product with a concept of tourists staying with foster families by renting rooms. Through the inap desa, tourists can interact with foster families as well as know and learn about the culture as well as way of life in the local community. Such an experience can be had at Telamba Homestay, one of the homestays located in the Tutong District in Kampung Telamba, some 15 kilometres from Tutong Town.

 

Telamba Homestay has been in operation since 2010 with the support and cooperation of the Brunei Tourism Development Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism as well as the Tutong District Office. Since its start of operations to date, Telamba Homestay has received visits from various tourists including those on family vacations. To date, those who stayed at Telamba Homestay comprise of tourists from 35 countries including ASEAN member nations, Europe, the People's Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea. From 2010 until April 2016, 396 tourists have stayed at Telamba Homestay. Most of the visitors carried out various activities provided by the Telamba Homestay such as jungle trekking, river cruise, visits to villages and farms, aside from being introduced to traditional delicacies.

 

Telamba Homestay is also frequently visited by local residents including from education institutions in order to carry out various projects such as environmental studies. Aside from adding on to the homestay owner's income, it also promotes the village's tourism products.
