BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Two local men were sentenced to jail terms and fines following their guilty pleas to drug and ammunition charges in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Ahmad Sadik bin Tali @ Sabli, aged 29, received five years' jail for consuming meth, possession of drugs utensil and several ammunitions inside a car at Ujung Jalan, Temburong Control Post on March 5, 2015.

Liew Kung Vui, aged 28, got six months and two weeks in jail after failing to pay a fine of $3,700 for the possession of 0.2037 grammes of meth, consuming the drug and possession of a drugs utensil on the same occasion.

DPP Atiyyah Abas informed Magistrate Pengiran Shahyzul bin Pengiran Abdul Rahman that the defendants were travelling in a car and were stopped by Narcotics Control Bureau officers at the control post at 6.10pm.

The officers discovered several packets of the drugs, utensils and 28 bullets.

No licence was issued for the possession of the bullets which were classified as 'small arm ammunition' and can be used as ammunition for firearms.
