Fans of popular 1980s group, Blues Gang will have the opportunity to watch them perform when the original members get together to raise funds for the treatment of bassist Jim Madasamy (pic).

Madasamy, 67, is diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia, a neurologic syndrome that impairs language ability and requires him to undergo periodic therapeutic treatment.

Coordinator of the ‘Jam For Jim Blues Gang - The True Blues Man' Azman Abu Samah said the group, a pioneer of the country's blues genre, would be featured as the main act.

The show would take place at Timbre KL, Jalan Doraisamy, here on Nov 19, for five hours starting at 6pm and entry is free.

In addition to Blues Gang, the other bands that will be performing are Madasamy's former band Purple Haze, Sons Of Adam and The Nobodys.

"This show is a sign of our support and friendship. We aim to collect donations of about RM5,000 from fans to be handed over to Madasamy who have contributed much to the country's music industry."

Blues Gang was famous for the song ‘Apo Nak Di Kato' which uses the Negri Sembilan dialect.

The other Blues Gang members were Ito Mohd (vocal / harmonica), Julian Mokhtar (main guitar), Ghani Dato 'Abu Talib (second guitar / keyboard) and Shaik Karim (Drums / Vocal).

The other popular songs are ‘Oh! Mama, Saya mahu Kahwin, Mak Siti. Lagu Tiga Kupang'.

The Blues Gang last show was at the "Returns of The Legends Concert" at Istana Budaya, here on Sept 17 last year. - Bernama
