BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
A Filipino woman and a Bangladeshi man were sentenced to imprisonment by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrates Court today after being found guilty of offences under the Immigration Act.
51 year old, Jocelyn Nepomuceno Nicanor, was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment for two offences. For the first offence, she was sentenced to 2 months imprisonment after her visit pass has expired for 77 days. Meanwhile, another 6 months was imposed for the offence of expired Special Pass for one thousand 910 days. Jocelyn was arrested during operasi Kekang on the 1st of November in Kampung Serasa, Muara.
Mohammad Rubel Miah, aged 28 was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and 3 strokes of the cane for overstaying in the country after his employment pass has expired for 247 days. He was arrested by the Department of Immigration and National Registration on the 1st of November.
