A 62-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday at Km 30 Jalan Lahad Datu-Tawau.

District police chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad said yesterday the fatal accident happened yesterday morning.

He said initial investigation at the scene found that the victim, Surianto Bin Pasdeno from Perumahan Ladang Permai, was heading to Kampung Dewata to attend a wedding ceremony.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was crossing the road when an unidentified vehicle hit him.

“The fatal incident that occurred at about 7pm caused head and body injuries to the victim who was brought to hospital by a passer-by and died while receiving treatment,” said Hamzah.
