A total of 39 household heads (KIR) in Kampung Sungai Belian here received RM15,000 each in aid for home repairs under the Hardcore Poor Housing Programme (PPRT).

In total, the government project under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) presenting aid totalling RM585,000.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development I Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said for this year, the ministry had approved PPRT aid for new builds and repairs worth over RM1 million for the Tanjung Datu constituency, including for the projects in Kampung Sungai Belian.

The Lundu District Office will carry out the PPRT projects.

“KKLW does not only give physical aid to rural folk, but also carries out various programmes to empower them economically such as the Income Increment Programme, Mobileprenuer@KKLW,” he said in his speech for the recent launching of the KKLW PPRT Repairs Walkabout Programme in Kampung Sungai Belian.

“KKLW also plays a role in human capital development through programmes carried out by Mara, GiatMara and KEMAS.”

Among those present were Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu; Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development deputy permanent secretary Datu Chaiti Bolhasan; and state KKLW Office director Mahathir Bujang.

Jamilah thanked Alexander and KKLW for assisting her constituency with different projects and programmes.

“On behalf of Kampung Sungai Belian folk, I wish to convey our appreciation to Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi for fulfilling the pledges made during the by-election in February,” she said.

During the event, appointment letters were also presented to 20 contractors for the repair projects in the village.

At the end of the ceremony, Alexander and the other guests also visited the houses to be repaired and symbolically launched the repair works for Kampung Sungai Belian.
