BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

Two personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force, PC4008 Mohd Kamal Ariffin bin Aiadin dan PC 4808 Affandi Heng bin Bennay Heng, were found guilty by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court on 2 charges under Section 6(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Chapter 131.

 

Investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed that on 8th September, 2011, at the vicinity of Happy Star, Batu Besurat, Gadong, did corruptly obtain from one local a gratification of a sum of 500 Brunei Dollars. The money was an inducement for not lodging a police report against the local and his partner for an alleged offence of close proximity purportedly committed by both of them.

 

Anti-Corruption Bureau investigation also found that the two accused had on the 6th of September, 2011 at Court Furniture in Kiulap, did corruptly obtain gratification of a sum of 4000 Brunei Dollars from one local as an inducement for not lodging a police report against the local and his partner for an alleged offence of close proximity purportedly committed by both of them. The Court has sentenced the two defendants to 18 months imprisonment for each charge, which is to be served concurrently from yesterday.
