After many years of simulcasts as well as awareness campaigns, finally this year, 2017, marks a significant milestone for Radio Television Brunei, RTB in Brunei Darussalam as on the 31st of December this year, Brunei Darussalam will switch off all its analogue television signals and 2018 will start a new chapter of digital-only television broadcast. The matter was underlined by the Director of Radio Television Brunei, RTB during the Opening of the Workshop on ASEAN Digital Radio Broadcasting yesterday morning at the Kiulap Plaza Hotel. Awang Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu said with the roll-out of digital television broadcasting in ASEAN now also well in progress, it is indeed timely for RTB to venture and explore together the implementation of digital radio broadcasting.
He added the agenda of the workshop will allow to listen to the development of the major digital radio technologies and the status of its deployment around the world. This workshop will serve as a platform for ASEAN to explore, study, and share as well as exchange views with major industry players on the digital radio broadcasting technologies.
The two day workshop is hosted by RTB and participated by 27 representative from ASEAN members' countries. The ASEAN Digital Radio Broadcasting is one of the priority policy issue by ASEAN SOMRI Working Group on ASEAN Digital Broadcasting (WG-ADB). During the workshop the participants discuss the information, latest trend, system technology standard of digital radio broadcasting. The workshop is conducted by three esteemed speaker experts in the digital radio broadcasting technology.
