Man Gets Out Of Housework By Buying Mop And Bucket For Children

Oh Wallace, what are you like (Picture: Caters)

A man has successfully got out of doing any housework by ‘accidentally’ buying a toy-sized mop and bucket.

Wallace Kennedy had just moved into his new home with girlfriend Rebecca Mccluskie and apparently decided it was time to step up in the domestic department.

He volunteered to buy the necessary tools and get to work on their new floor, giving it a sparkling going-over with their £15.99 cleaning set.

(Fun fact: You can buy an adult-sized mop and bucket set for less than this amount).

But incredibly, when it arrived in the post, the couple decided it was proof that he should just put his feet up, as they wouldn’t get much mopping done with it.

Rebecca, 24, said: ‘We decided not to return it, because it was Wallace’s own fault – so now it sits in the kitchen as a trophy.’

Wallace claimed he was trying to show his domestic side after years of Rebecca doing most of the housework where they live in Ayrshire, Scotland.

Setting aside any discussion of whether male incompetence ‘is a subtle form of misogyny’,  Rebecca said: ‘He went online and saw this mop, and because it was quite expensive he thought it was going to be a really good one.’

‘We were in stitches and we still are whenever we think about it.’

She came to the conclusion: ‘It’s just proved to us that I should stick to doing the housework.’

So either Wallace truly is incompetent, or a genius of manipulation.
