KUALA LUMPUR

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) has expressed his horror at the terror attack at a mosque in Egypt on Friday.

“Horrified by the attack on innocent worshippers at al-Rawda mosque in Egypt.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones,” Bernama quoted Najib as saying in his latest tweet yesterday.

International media reported that at least 305 worshippers were killed and many others wounded in the terrorist attack on the mosque in North Sinai province, targeted during Friday prayers.

According to reports, the attackers planted explosives before opening fire on worshippers.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

In Putrajaya, Bernama reported that the Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the situation at Oxford Street and Oxford Circus Underground station following reports of shots fired there on Friday.

In a statement, Wisma Putra said London police reported that they had not found evidence of shots fired and that the situation was “back to normal”.

About nine people were reportedly injured in the “incident”.

“So far, there have been no reports of Malaysians involved in the incident.

“But they are advised to remain vigilant and follow the instructions by local authorities,” it said.

The ministry said the High Commission of Malaysia in London was in close contact with the local authorities and was currently providing timely updates to the Malaysian community.

For more information, Malaysians in the United Kindom can seek assistance from the High Commission of Malaysia in London located at 52 Bedford Row, London WC1R 4LR, call +44(0) 207 242 4308 or e-mail [email protected].

Later in Melaka, Najib attended the Sehati Sejiwa golf tournament with Barisan Nasional elected representatives at the Ayer Keroh Country Club.

Among those who also attended the event were several mentris besar and chief ministers led by Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.

The golf tournament was held in conjunction with the annual programme of the Wives of Barisan Nasional Elected Representatives event held at the Melaka International Trade Centre.

The Prime Minister also attended the badminton finals between the wives of elected representatives and handed over prizes to the winners.
