One Killed, Six Injured When Truck Plunges Into Drain

A truck driver was killed, while his six male passengers were injured, when their car skidded and turned turtle after plunging into a drain at an intersection at Kilometer 3 Jalan Persisiran Pantai here early yesterday.

 

The car driver, identified as Syahirudin Syaripudin,31, who was pinned in the car  died on the spot in the crash which occurred about 3.15 am.

 

Semporna district police chief Supt Peter Umbuas, in a statement today, said the victims were in a Nissan Frontier truck on their way to Pokas from Kampung Simunul when the driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle after it skidded.

 

“A 26-year-old passenger who was in the back seat was thrown out of the vehicle and broke his left arm, while the other five passengers, aged between 17 and 37, sustained minor injuries and sent to a hospital for treatment,” he said. – Bernama
