The month of Rabiul Awal on the Muslim calendar recorded one of the most important events in the history of Islam.  It was in this month that Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam, the last Messenger of Allah was born.   Allah the Almighty has decreed that all Muslims should love and respect the Great Prophet and follow his teachings.  The Friday sermon today shared one of the best ways to show love and respect towards the Messenger of Allah, which is reciting or saying the Salawat.   Focusing on love and affection for the Prophet, the khutbah or sermon also explained that it is commendable to recite the salawat at any time.

The imam or prayer leaders said reciting the salawat, a form of prayer or supplication for Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wassalam is easy and takes little time.  They said the more one says the salawat, to more bless the person is.   The Messenger of Allah will also give, 'syafaat' or intercede on behalf of the person in the Day of Judgement.  A salawat is worth ten blessings and wipes out ten sins or wrongs from the person.   Allah the Almighty will also grant the wish of the person and answer his or her supplications.  The prayer leaders added that reciting the salawat will also bring enlightenment, free one from punishment in the Hereafter, free from shame, loss, and regret.  The salawat will also help place the individual among the pious people.  The prayer leaders also said there are many types of Salawat.
