Brunei Darussalam's International Trade Balance for September this year has increased by 25 point 1 percent year-on-year to One thousand sixty three point 8 million dollars, compared to 850 point 2 million dollars in September last year. The total trade consists of exports by 634 point 1 million dollars, and import of 429 point 7 million dollars. The statistics released by the Department of Economic Planning and Development, JPKE, shows a decrease of 36 percent year-on-year to 204 point 4 million dollars from 319 point 6 million dollars in September 2016.
According to the statistic, the country's export for September 2017 jumped by 8 point 4 percent year-on-year from 584 point 9 million dollars in September 2016, to 634 point 1 million dollars in September this year. Exports of Mineral fuels recorded the highest contribution of 94 point 9 percent of total exports, comprising of Crude Oil by 247 point 5 million dollars and Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG, of 353 point 3 million dollars.
In September 2017, imports of goods improved by 62 percent year-on-year from 265 point 3 million dollars in September last year, to 429 point 7 million dollars for September this year. The top five contributions of imports by commodity were Machinery and Transport Equipment of 44 point 5 percent; Manufactured Goods 23 point 8 percent; Food by 10 point 4 percent; Mineral Fuels by 8 point 5 percent and Chemicals 5 point 4 percent. The highest exports market was to Japan with 29 point 4 percent of total exports, followed by Republic of Korea 15 point 6 percent; India 14 point 4 percent and Malaysia with 13 point 3 percent.
By End Use Category, Imports of Intermediate Goods comprised of 57 point 7 per cent of the total imports. This was followed by imports of Capital Goods 34 point 8 percent and Consumption Goods of 7 point 5 percent. The highest imports came from Germany with 30 percent of total imports, followed by China 19 point 3 percent, Singapore 13 point 9 percent and Malaysia 12 point 5 percent.
