BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
The charity sale organised by Mukim Keriam Consultative Council aims to provide opportunity to the community and motivate youths to become entrepreneurs by entering the various viable sectors, including selling a variety of goods in Tutong District. The matter was highlighted by the Tutong District Officer during the launch of the Charity Sale at Tutong Civic Centre this morning.
In his speech, Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain during the launch believed the sale was the door for those who were newcomers in the business sector. The event provided visitors the opportunity to buy and donate at the same time and it was hoped it would become a calendar event for the mukim.
25 local small enterprises are taking part in the first such sale organised by the mukim consultative council. The items sold included clothes, handicrafts, toys, furniture and decorations, electronics, food and beverages as well as fruits and vegetables. Also taking place was a vintage cars and high-powered motorcycles exhibition. The charity sale would be further enlivened with a cycling activity organised by Sembatang Cycling Team on Sunday. Other attractions included auditions for flute, harmonica and gambus or mandolin players as well as a drawing competition for adults.
30 percent of the sale's proceeds would be donated to the Tutong District Orphans Fund and Mukim Keriam Consultative Council's Fund especially for the council's charity programmes. The charity sale is open to the public between 8 in the morning and 9 in the evening until Sunday. In attendance were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, Member of the Legislative Council and Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Taha bin Abdul Rauf, the Penghulu of Mukim Keriam as the Chairman of the 2018 Charity Sale Committee.
