The 12-year-old schoolboy who claimed he was almost kidnapped while waiting for the school bus at Ampang was lying, according to police.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said that the boy admitted to lying after police questioned him.
“We found out that he made up the story due to some family problems,” he told a press conference at state police headquarters Tuesday.
He added that the injury to the boy's arm was caused by the boy accidentally breaking a window while playing football, and not related to any kidnapping attempt.
The victim said that he escaped after biting the hand of his would-be abductor.
Comm Mazlan said that lodging false police reports is a serious offence and police will decide whether to take further action.
