 January 18th, 2018  |  08:47 AM  |   2012 views

KOTA KINABALU

A Sarawakian man was yesterday ordered by the High Court here to enter his defence on January 31 over a charge of trafficking in 4,396 grams of syabu.

Justice Datuk Nurchaya Hj Arshad made the order in the case of Ho Yee Onn, 35, after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against him.

The accused was charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is punishable with the death penalty, upon conviction.

Ho was charged with trafficking in syabu with an accomplice, who is still at large, at the arrival hall of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here at 3.40 pm on May 21, 2016.

During the preliminary hearing which commenced on Oct 16, 2017, the prosecution had called seven witnesses to testify.

Counsel Ram Singh, for the accused, said that his client has opted to give sworn evidence and two witnesses will be called, including the accused.
