President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will continue his Asian tour as scheduled with a trip to Afghanistan on Monday, despite a recent terror attack that killed at least 103 people.

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung confirmed the Afghanistan visit on Sunday via his twitter account @pramonoanung.

“President @jokowi is scheduled today to visit Cox’s Bazar, the location of Rohingya refugees, and he will still go to Afghanistan tomorrow, even though many have advised him to delay the visit because of the bomb in Kabul,” Pramono said. “The President has no fear.”

On Saturday, a bomb hidden in an ambulance exploded in Kabul, killing at least 103 people and injuring over 200 more.

The blast occurred in a crowded area of the city where several high-profile organizations including the European Union have offices, AFP reported.

The force of the explosion destroyed dozens of nearby buildings and vehicles.

The government has blamed the Taliban-affiliated Haqqani Network, which Afghan and Western officials suspect of involvement in at least several of the recent attacks in the capital.

The attack came a week after Taliban insurgents stormed Kabul's landmark Intercontinental Hotel and killed at least 25 people, the majority of whom were foreigners. (kmt/ebf)
