China Tourist Dies In Hospital After Accident

A tourist from China died while being treated in hospital for about four hours after he was knocked by a car while crossing a road in front of the City Mosque in Likas here yesterday.
The 67-year-old victim from Shanxi China, whose identity has been withheld by the authority, died around 3pm while being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2 (QEH II).
City police chief ACP M. Chandra said investigation believed the victim was crossing the road when a Naza Sutera car, that was heading to 1Borneo in Sepanggar from Luyang, knocked the victim around 10am
The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment but doctors pronounced him dead about four hours later.
Chandra said the police had detained the 30-year-old Naza driver to assist police investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He also urged eyewitness to contact investigating officer Inspector Chong Chee Wah at 016-3032030 to assist police in their investigation.
