Singapore's Home Affairs' Permanent Secretary Visited Al-Islah

KG KUPANG, TUTONG
The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Republic of Singapore, Leo Yip and his delegation who are currently in the Sultanate attending the 2nd Brunei PMO-MHA Annual Bilateral Meeting yesterday made a working visit to the Al-Islah Centre of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Kampong Kupang.
The Permanent Secretary and his delegation was welcomed by the Acting Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Awang Haji Mohd Jaffari bin Haji Mahadi.
During the visit the permanent secretary and his delegation was given a briefing on administrative background of the centre, management, facilities as well as roles and responsibilities of the centre in offering recovery programme for residence of the centre.
Al-Islah Centre practised a systemic therapy through the methods of counselling, vocational training and at the same time invites family members as well as public to provide support and motivate the resident through their recovery process as well as facing challenges during the process.
The delegation yesterday also brought to take closer look on the provided facilities at the centre so that the delegation will have a sound of understanding on the recovery aspects that have been implemented by the centre.
In addition, the purpose of the visit was to gain experience in relation to a drug rehabilitation programme that is run in this country and know a little more about the system and method which is carried out at the centre.
