Reminder To Boat And Water Taxi Owners

Owners, business owners and drivers of speed boats and water taxi in this country are reminded and urged to adhere to the safety rules and regulations that have been stipulated. The reminder was made by the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, MPABD.

 

The reminder includes matters related to the maximum allowed capacity and providing safety equipment such as life jackets, fire extinguishers, paddling equipment and navigational lighting to ensure the safety of small boats and their passengers. MPABD added that members of the public who use speed boats, tour boats and water taxis in Brunei Darussalam waters are also required to wear life jackets as this may save their lives in the event of an unfortunate incident such as capsized boat.

 

Meanwhile, boat and water taxi owners are also reminded to ensure that the safety equipment are placed at easily reached access areas. For the safety and well-being of the public, boat and water taxi operators are advised to reduce their speed and exercise caution during the uncertain whether condition
