Baby Born with Craniosynostosis Passed Away

 May 11th, 2016  |  05:35 AM  |   1526 views

KUALA BELAIT

A baby who was suffering from a rare disease that caused his head to swell passed away yesterday morning.

His parents, Awang Lani bin Karim and Dayang Jainah binti Sarah, took Awang Adam Darwis at 2am to the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait from their home at the Lumut National Housing Scheme but the baby was pronounced dead by a doctor 30 minutes later.

He was laid to rest at An Naim Cemetery around 8am in the presence of close family members and friends of his parents, who also expressed their thanks to members of the public who donated money amounting to $3,000 after Adam Darwis' plight was recently published in newspapers and shared on social media.

"With the donations, we had planned to bring him to the Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC), but it was already too late. Adam has left us forever," said the mother in tears.

The money will instead be used for his funeral, as well as a Tahlil and Doa Arwah.

Adam was born with a condition known as Craniosynostosis.
