Heavy Vehicles Driving Course Trainees Feted with Certificates

Twenty-three trainees who have completed the 5th Heavy Vehicles Driving Course received their certificates during a ceremony yesterday at the headquarters of Megamas Training Company Sendirian Berhad (Megamas), the course consultant for the Youth Development Centre (PPB).
In attendance to present the certificates of completion to the graduates was the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
The graduates comprise 12 trainees from the Mechanical Training Centre (PLM) and 11 trainees selected from those who joined the programme through the PPB.
In a speech, the minister said that the Sultanate is still facing the challenge of unemployment. Therefore he called on the jobseekers to seize opportunities offered by the government to raise their level of skills in the fields that are required by the job market, especially the private sector.
This is the fourth time that Megamas was selected as the course consultant since participating in the programme in 2013.
The course is implemented by the PPB, the Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister's Office and Institute of Brunei Technical Education under the Energy Industry Competency Framework with the support of the Department of Economic Planning and Development.
During the event, a signing of employment contracts was held with Sahid Sendirian Berhad, Serikandi Oilfield Services Sendirian Berhad, Brunei Transportation Company Sendirian Berhad, Aziz Latif and Company, MOC Sendirian Berhad, PSK Logistic Sendirian Berhad, Megalift Sendirian Berhad, Buildcon Concrete Sendirian Berhad, Slingmax Sendirian Berhad, Syarikat PHLS Sendirian Berhad, Syarikat Razali Amat Sendirian Berhad and Suasana Mentari Engineering Services Sendirian Berhad.
The event also saw the presentation of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) certificates to eight local Megamas instructors.
Awang Mohd Roger Ainsworth, Megamas Executive Advisor, was on hand to receive the RoSPA Certificates of Accreditation to deliver a comprehensive range of driving courses.
Megamas is the only RoSPA Fleet Safety Accredited and Approved Centre in the region, alongside companies from the United Kingdom, the Middle-East and Russia.
