President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo handed over thousands of land certificates to residents of six regions in South Sulawesi during his official visit on Thursday.
Jokowi symbolically distributed 3,850 land certificates for free to residents living in Takalar, Makassar, Bulukumba, Jeneponto, Gowa and Bantaeng, in Makkatang Daeng Sibalito field in Takalar, South Sulawesi, to resolve protracted land disputes in those areas. The certificates were issued by the Agrarian and Spatial Planning Ministry as per the President’s order.
Jokowi added that he had targeted to distribute 7 million land certificates at the national level this year to provide legal certainty particularly for residents living in rural areas, in which land dispute is a common issue. Thus far, the government has distributed 5 million land certificates.
Earlier today, Jokowi distributed social welfare cards within different social welfare programs such as the Hope Family Program (PKH), the Smart Indonesia Program (KIP) and the rice social assistance program (Rastra) in Gowa. (swd)
