'Bintang Kecil' Competition

Various great achievements can be seen throughout the 40 years of 'Bintang Kecil' competition. Some artists have brought glory to the country in regional and international singing competitions. During an interview with RTB at the Bintang Kecil competition, Yang Berhormat Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, Member of the Legislative Council, who was also a former Bintang Kecil participant, explained that the competition has resulted in the development of creativity in among local youth both in singing and music production. Yang Berhormat also touched on the need to encourage young people in the arts of dancing or singing which could boost their confidence to perform in public. This will also help to produce more local artists.
Dayang Nur Qistina Adriana binti Muhammad Yusirwan with her song titled 'Badarsila' emerged as the champion in the 40th Bintang Kecil competition. 10 participants competed in the finals of Bintang kecil this afternoon at the Dewan Raya of Radio Televisyen Brunei in the capital. Prizes were presented by Yang Berhormat Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, Member of the Legislative Council. Also present were Awang Mohammed Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohammed Yunos, the Permanent Secretary of Media and Cabinet at the Prime Minister's Office and Awang Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu, the Director of Radio Televisyen Brunei. The winner received One Thousand and Five Hundred Dollars, the Challenge Trophy, and accompanying Trophy, Electrical appliances and Hamper. While, Awang Muhammad Hairel Shah bin Muhammad Jeff Azlan@Izlan and Awang Mohammad Syafiq Aiman bin Awang Haji Ramli came in second and third places respectively. With the theme ''Menjayakan Wawasan Negara'', the competition acted as a platform to produce young singers, presenters and dancers apart from building their confidence to perform in public.
The winner of the competition is aspire to become a teacher. The 13-year old student of the Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Secondary school is surprised to win the competition. She added that, apart from putting her own effort in the competition, she also received support from her parents by spending more time during training.
