Second Night Of The National Musabaqah Al-Quran For Adults 2018

The Final of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1439 Hijrah/2018 continued for its second night yesterday evening. Four Qaris and four Qariahs presented their readings at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas. His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah graced the event.

 

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Dipertua Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairman of the Major Islamic Events Celebration Executive Committee and Chairman of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1439 Hijrah/2018 Executive Committee; as well as other committee members. 

 

The recital of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

 

The Musabaqah began with the presentation of readings by four participants. They were Awang Haji Mohammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim, Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri; Awang Mohammad Zul Hafiz bin Awang Tengah, and Dayang Hajah Nurfaezah binti Haji Emran.

 

A number of participation conditions have been updated in this year's Musabaqah format, including the age limit of participants, to be not less than 18 and not more than 40 years. 61 participants were eligible under the new terms.

 

The Musabaqah was highlighted with al-quran reading by three local qaris, namely, Dato Paduka Haji Yussof bin Bakar, the First runner up of the 1991 International Tilawah Al-Quran competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and third place winner of the same competition in 1981 and 1988;  Mudim Haji Metasim bin Haji Metussin, third place winner of the 2001 International Tilawah Al-Quran competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Pengiran Muhamad Adibul Amin bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki, the First runner up of the International Tilawah Al-Quran competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2016 and 2017.

 

Four other participants presented their readings. They were Awang Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya; Dayang Hajah Nurhapidzah binti Haji Hassan; Awang Haji Fikri bin Haji Metussin; and Dayang Siti Zahrina binti Abdul Wahab. In order to improve the quality of the reading of the participants of this year, the Ministry of religious Affairs has provided several courses including the Tarannum Al-Quran course organised by the Study and Al-Quran Dissemination Centre of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Al-Quran Tahfiz Institute, Tarannum Al-Quran Workshop as well as Young Qari and Qariah Workshop.

 

The three-night event which began at the night of 27th February, ends on the night of 1st March with the announcement of the results and prize-presentation. The champions will represent the country to the International Tilawah Al-Quran competition to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 7th to 12th of May this year. This year's Musabaqah carries the theme 'Al-Quran Sumber Kepimpinan Adil' or Al-Quran the Source of Just Leadership.
