More than 700 students had the opportunity to learn about the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) from a 'Discover Asean' roadshow held yesterday at the Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, in Kampong Salambigar.

The guest of honour was Mohd Yusof bin Besar, Senior Teacher of Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), at the Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School.

Organised by the Information Department, through its International Affairs Unit as Secretariat for the AseanCOCI Sub-committee on Information, the roadshow was aimed at Year 9 students, to instil a sense of belonging to the Asean community, in line with the organisation's motto of 'One Vision, One Identity, One Community'.

A briefing on Asean was presented by Abdul Karim bin Hamdan, a Level II Special Duties Officer at the Information Department, in his capacity as Head of the International Affairs Unit.

The event also included a quiz session, which was followed by a presentation of prizes to 10 students with the most correct answers.

The roadshow is one of several programmes currently being conducted across the country by the Information Department, to provide secondary school students with exposure and education on Brunei Darussalam's role in the regional arena.
