A 24-member delegation left for Singapore to take part in the Shell Eco-Marathon, SEM, 2018. The group represents students and teachers of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Technology University and Polytechnic Brunei. 

Present at the Brunei International Airport to bid them farewell was Professor Doctor Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, UTB Vice Chancellor. The Shell Eco-Marathon - with the theme Make the Future Singapore - challenges their utmost innovative capacity using minimal fuel to power their invention and produce less carbon dioxide. It is one of Shell's mobility campaign to spur innovation among youths. This year, UBD sends 8 students and 2 teachers. According to one of the participants, Awang Haji Muhd Wafi Nur Arif, the competition is all about vehicle effectiveness and not speed.
