BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
A local Malay man, Haji Duraman bin Talip, was found guilty by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court for an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131).
Investigations by the Anti-Corruption Bureau found that the defendant had corruptly given 250-dollars to an Education Officer on the 26th of March 2013, at the Vehicles and Transportation Section, Department of Administration, Ministry of Education office in Pusar Ulak. The money was an inducement for the said Education Officer to approve his application to extend his permit/contract for the supply of boat services for the Ministry of Education. The Magistrate's Court sentenced Haji Duraman to 12 months imprisonment, starting from today.
