​Over 58 thousand people have visited the Brunei Book Festival and Reading Culture Empowerment Carnival 2018 which was held for 10 days since the 27th of February. This year, 78 government and private publishers comprising the Language and Literature Bureau, and bookstores from local and abroad have participated in the festival. The Brunei Book Festival and Reading Culture Empowerment Carnival has ended yesterday which was held in conjunction with the 34th National Day.

 

According to Dayang Hajah Sariani binti Haji Ishak, the Acting Director of Language and Literature Bureau, throughout the festival, the 'Ria Bacathon' challenge has attracted the most participation from primary schools students of the government, private and religious schools nationwide. It is one of the main activity organised by the Language and Literature Bureau for every book festival. She also added that the public were also given the opportunity to personally meet with the well-known writers from Malaysia and has the chance for the new generation who are interested in writing to gain knowledge on how to get involve in book writing.
