This year, 290 individuals were registered in the 72 times Khatam Al Quran project in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Birthday Celebration. The Officiating ceremony to commence the reading of Al-Quran and 72 time Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was held yesterday morning at the Kg Sungai Akar.

Present was Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Ali bin Pengiran Maun, Member of the Legislative Council who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Berakas "B". The khatam participants include Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, the Minister of Primary Resource and Tourism. Also present was Hji Ramli Bin Haji Md Zain, Head of Kg Sungai Akar.
