In the same media conference, the Land Transport Department also warned logistic and transport companies as well as their drivers to be more responsible and to abide by traffic laws specifically those involved with heavy vehicles. The warning was issued during the Land Transport enforcement operation held at the Muara-Tutong and Jalan Muara Highway. Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the Acting Director of Land Transport also said in the operation a total of 16 compounds have been issued and of the number 7 compounds were under the overloading vehicle offence.
Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal said enforcement operations carried out by the Enforcement Section of the Land Transport Department in 2016 and 2017 have recorded 1,334 cases of traffic offences involving heavy vehicle. Of the number, 50 percent were overloading vehicles, 27 percent were vehicles worthiness and 10 percent were heavy vehicles driven with bald tyres. In 2017, 224 compounds were recorded for offences of overloading vehicles. Of the number 133 were found in Serasa area involving 33 companies.
