His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, this afternoon received Letters of Credence from twenty-three non-resident foreign envoys to the country. The ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

Her Excellency Dorothy Samali Hyuha, High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda; and

 

His Excellency Nurudeen Muhammed, High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

 

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then received in audience the non-resident high commissioners and ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary who have just presented their letters of credence. 

 

His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the Titah in conjunction with the 34th National Day highlights the government's policy in the international arena. His Majesty says Brunei Darussalam will continue to practise mutual respect and maintain good relations with other nations. Brunei Darussalam will continue to address issues of interest to the international community such as the threats of terrorism and climate change. Brunei Darussalam will also continue its efforts to become a responsible member of the world community.

 

So far, Brunei has established diplomatic relations with more than 170 countries. This is a solid proof that the meeting session carried by the country especially in Islamic Malay Monarchy, MIB continue to be practiced in the international arena.

 

Also present at the audience ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
