Yesterday morning's meeting also approved the Ministry of Health's budget amounting to more than 345 million dollars. For the Ministry of Communications and departments under it, more than 54-million dollars has been allocated for the budget 2018/2019. Apart from that the public transportation system, is among the major projects under the development budget for the year 2018/2019 which is expected to cost 15-million dollars. The project is in line with the Land Transport Master Plan strategy which among other matters to reduce dependency on private vehicles and further enhance the governance of the public transportation sector. Yang Berhormat Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Communications in presenting his ministry's allocation also shared on a number of key initiatives that have been implemented, the development and planning as well as direction of the Financial Year 2018/2019.
According to Yang Berhormat, throughout the Financial Year 2017/2018, the Ministry of Communications has implemented various initiatives in updating the governance policy and process that have been carried out. The implementation of the initiatives has contributed in saving the allocation, facilitating members of the public and business as well as enhancing the level of productivity. This is as stressed upon in the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Communications 2008/2017. As such, the Ministry of Communications will ensure there will be a continuity on the policy in the future plan. At the same time, a number of reviews will also be carried out in order to enhance the implementation of policy and objectives. The Ministry of Communications will continue to identify services that are more cost-effective to be given by the private sector that can alleviate the burden of the government's budget. Among the policies are the Corporatization and privatization, Commercialization of services which are before carried out by departments under the Ministry of Communications and facilitating public dealings and public sector involvement.
