iCUBE to Traverse Bukit Teraja to Study Flora and Fauna

In the summer of 2017, The International Consortium of Universities for the Study of Biodiversity and the Environment (iCUBE) is expected to carry out its first expedition to Bukit Teraja to study the diverse flora and fauna in the area.
In preparation of the expedition, a reconnaissance and scientific survey trip to Bukit Teraja was carried out by a group of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) students and staff under the guidance of Dr. Rahayu Sukmaria binti Haji Sukri, Dean of Faculty of Science, from June 4 to 7, 2014.
The report of the reconnaissance trip under iCUBE was presented yesterday at the 3rd Governing Board Meeting (GBM) of iCUBE hosted by UBD at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences (PAPRSB IHS).
Dr. Rahayu Sukmaria in her presentation yesterday discussed the background of Bukit Teraja.
She said, "The Bukit Teraja Protection Forest (BTPF) is one of the forest reserves currently included in Brunei's Heart of Borneo project. In 2010, the Panaga Natural History Society (PNHS) organised a survey of Bukit Teraja and results of the survey led PNHS to propose the establishment of a Teraja conservation forest."
