World Meteorological Day is celebrated annually every 23rd of March in conjunction with the convention of the World Meteorological Day in 1950. In commemorating the celebration, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department yesterday afternoon held the reading of Surah Yasin and Tahlil at the Surau of Brunei International Airport.

Present was Yang Berhormat Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad Yusof, the Minister of Communications. The event aims to seek the blessings from Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala for the Meteorological Department's efforts in administering weather information for the general public. Also present were Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Ahmad, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and his deputy, Doctor Haji Supry bin Haji Awang Ladi.
