Bruneian Remanded for Possessing an Offensive Weapon

A local man who is facing a charge of possessing an offensive weapon was ordered by the Magistrate's Court to be remanded, pending further investigations into the case.
The forty-three-year-old defendent, Shamsul Bahri bin Abdullah, allegedly possessed a sharp metal object shaped like a Katana near Jalan McArthur at 6.45am on May 12, 2016.
The charge under the Public Order Act carries a penalty of a minimum jail term of one year, a maximum of 10 years and not less than three strokes.
DPP Danial Kifrawi applied for the defendant's remand to have the police complete their investigations.
Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli ordered for the defendant's remand until a further mention of the case in court again on Tuesday.
