Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) is entering the final stage of negotiation and discussion, and so far it is going smoothly, said Warisan’s Supreme Council Member, George Hiew.
“Negotiation between Warisan and PH will definitely yield good results. It definitely will not disappoint people. Top leaders in all parties have compromised the seats they were assigned to. Currently, Warisan and PH have entered the final stage of discussion, and result will be announced in the near future.
“As long as we work together, we could make it happen. We would be able to stand up against bad governance together, and new Government can be born,” he said.
Hiew said this during a press conference held here today.
At the conference, Hiew also announced that Warisan will be hosting a dinner with Sandakan Chinese community on Saturday night at 7pm at Sanbay Hotel, with its President, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal expected to be present to be delivering a speech.
At 2pm on the same day, Shafie is expected to attend the General Election 14 Perdana Talk organised by Pakatan Harapan (PH) as a special guest.
The talk will see PH’s Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; Sabah Democratic Action Party (DAP) Chairman, Stephen Wong; Sabah PH Chairperson, Christina Liew; as well as candidates from PH who were chosen to be contesting in the next election, including Calvin Chong from DAP (Elopura state seat), Frankie Poon from DAP (Tanjong Papat state seat) and Amanah Sabah Chairman, Hamzah Abdullah (Batu Sapi Parliament seat).
Meanwhile, Hiew said that Sandakan has been experiencing stagnant economic development, with more than 200 shops closed down in town here, despite having a Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Industrial Development as an assemblyman at the area.
“With the poor development of Sandakan, it would be ridiculous to upgrade Sandakan Municipal Council to Sandakan City Hall now,” he said.
Warisan’s Chairman, Datuk Liew Vui Keong who was also present at the press conference said that the implementation of six percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) had made people from all walks of life suffering from it.
He said with the prices of goods in East Malaysia higher than that of West Malaysia, it is unfair that the East Malaysians still need to pay even higher prices with the implementation of GST.
