The Advance Hydrogen Energy Chain Association for Technology Development, a consortium from Japan, will operate and manage the world's first global hydrogen supply chain demonstration project between Brunei Darussalam and Japan. A foundation laying ceremony for the plant's construction site was held at the Sungai Liang Industrial Spark, SPARK.

In attendance was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry. Also present was Awang Haji Kamaluddin bin Haji Bungsu, the Permanent Secretary for Manpower and SHENA at the Prime Minister's Office, as well as Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin and Yang Berhormat Awang Hanapi bin Mohd Siput, Members of the Legislative Council. Hydrogen is a new clean energy alternative to reduce greenhouse gas emission. AHEAD will operate the total supply chain in 2020.
