Local Man Sentenced to 3-Month Imprisonment, Fined for Consuming Drug

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers arrested a forty-three-year-old local man at the duty officer's room at the NCB office for consuming Class A drug, Methylamphetamine, on October 3, 2015 at 4.20pm.
Pengiran Haji Norizam Reshma bin Pengiran Haji Metassan, was acting suspiciously when the NCB officers inspected the duty officer's room, the Magistrate's Court stated.
For further investigation, the defendant was asked to provide a urine sample, which tested positive for the drug, Methylamphetamine following confirmation from the Department of Scientific Services (DSS).
Hence, the defendant is charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act, Section 6 (b), Chapter 27, and under Section 29 read with the second schedule of the said act imprisonment for a maximum of 10 years and a maximum fine of $20,000 and a minimum of three years for a second or subsequent offence.
The defendant was fined BND$1,500 and three months' imprisonment in default.
